I hope so too for all the Pistons fans out there. Kwame is a decent backup center in the NBA (blocks some shots, plays pretty good defense & rebounds reasonably well), but he can’t play 35 minute per game the whole season. It will be interesting to see who Dumars decides to bring in…

I seem to be conflicted by these signings, but I always come back to the logic that no one thought the Pistons would be any good when they acquired Rip, signed Chauncey and traded Hill away. And look what happened, they had some success and figured they were one piece (Sheed) away from actually contending.

If they do indeed keep Rip and bring Gordon off the bench, the team will likely be able to score with almost anybody. Yeah, the big men or lack thereof is a huge hole right now, but Joe might have a decent signing in the works. I sure the hell hope so.

I don’t think Dumars really has a long term strategy at this point, Patrick. Well, unless it’s to try to be the 15th best team in the league. The signings of BG and CV just don’t make a lot of sense if the Pistons want to compete for a championship in the near future.

Like that line, “Dumars shelled out $95 million for a couple of 7 pound catfish.” It’s true. I like Charlie V and BG, but they’re second tier players. Throw those two guys alongside Rip and Tay and you have a team that, like you said, is battling for the 8th seed. I don’t see the long term strategy here.
