LeBron James – The Dunk Heard Round the World

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

UPDATE – Ahh, the power of the internet. Within the time it took me to write this blog, another video has surfaced, this one on ebaumnation.com. This is is definitely better quality and has much more clarity. View this link here at our Cavs site King James Gospel. Writing for an NBA blog, I felt a certain obligation to reacting to the LeBron James “dunk gate” tape that TMZ.com apparently purchased the rights to and displayed on their website here – take a look if you haven’t seen the video and if you have seen the video, its worth clicking the [...]

Uncontested Shots: The Latest On Barnes, Jack, Shaq, Moon, Odom, and Q-Rich

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA, Uncontested Shots | COMMENTS: None Yet

All Seems Quiet on the Free Agent Front While not much has happened in recent days amongst those free agents who still remain available, there are a couple of players who have found new homes. As always, here are today’s Uncontested Shots. Or should I say “Things I was thinking about while tripping off the fact that Drake is Jewish and was Bar Mitzvah’d”? The Toronto Raptors have landed restricted free agent point guard Jarret Jack for a reported four years and a little more than $20 million to back-up the talented yet oft-injured Jose Calderon. This is a great [...]

Cleveland Cavaliers – In the Mood to Swing

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

To those watching the Cavaliers and their postseason run, there was one hole in the make up of their roster. Of the Cavs top eight minute getters in the postseason there was only two players – not named Lebron James – who could be classified as a “swing” player. Now granted Lebron James is a pretty good option at that swing spot, but after him their next player on the depth chart was Wally Szczerbiak  who’s playoff performance could hardly be called scintillating (3.6 ppg, 2-12 3p). After that? The Cavs had to turn to Sasha Pavlovic, who seemed out of shape and disinterested coming [...]

Jonny Flynn – A New Age Point Guard

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Umm yeah and this guy is supposedly a point guard? They have him listed at 6-0 but I doubt Flynn barely even scraped 5-11. Anyway, he puts a nice little capper on the end of a summer league breakaway. Make one thing for certain, Flynn has made everyone talk about him during his stint in the Vegas summer league. Flynn has evoked comments such as: Being lethal in open space and the single most electric guard in Vegas, which sounds pretty accurate. In his five Vegas games Flynn shot a scorching 48% from the floor and even more impressive 58% [...]

Uncontested Shots: The Latest on Sessions, Baby, Casspi, and Odom

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA, Uncontested Shots | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Deadline for Jazz and Millsap Approaching Paul Millsap is widely considered the next big shoe to drop before the rest of this summer’s free agency starts to take shape. The Portland Trailblazers signed Millsap to an offer sheet last Friday night and the deadline for the Utah Jazz to match the offer is steadily approaching. If the Jazz, as expected, match the offer sheet then the Blazers will have to decide if they want to use their available cap space to either go after Lamar Odom or New York Knicks free agent, David Lee. While the Knicks have tried to [...]

Checking In With Charles: Anthony, Antoine, Allen & Almond

AUTHOR: | IN: Checking In With Charles, NBA | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The man who pulls no punches is back to answer the questions of the week… 1)  Do you think Anthony Randolph will become an all-star caliber player next season?  The last Warriors player to make a splash in the NBA Summer League was Marco Bellineli and for the most part he’s just been a scrub on the end of the bench during the season.  That said, I really like Randolph’s game and think he could develop into a more athletic version of David Robinson.  Apparently Jay Bilas thinks so too.  After reading Justin DeFeo’s article on SCIC yesterday about Randolph, Bilas sent the following tweet:  6 references to length in [...]

Coming Out Party – Anthony Randolph

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Warriors second year forward Anthony Randolph is quickly making the Las Vegas summer league his own personal playground and at the same time confirming what a lot of us knew already – he can ball. After a string of impressive games this summer, Randolph blew up for a summer league record 42 points and did so efficiently, scoring his 42 on only 22 shots. Randolph is undoubtedly the star of this year’s summer. Here is a collection of tweets on Randolph’s summer performance thus far from professional basketball trainer and ESPN NBA columnist David Thorpe: – Anthony Randolph is clearly the most [...]

Uncontested Shots: The Latest On Iverson, Millsap, Odom & the Blazers

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA, Uncontested Shots | COMMENTS: None Yet

Lakers and Odom Still Far Apart It’s amazing how fast things can change during free agency. Just a couple days ago the Orange County Register was reporting that the Lakers and Lamar Odom were close to an agreement that would pay Odom north of $8 million for next season. Now it seems that the two sides are further apart then ever. So much so that the Dallas Mavericks are now expressing interest in Odom in the wake of the Orlando Magic electing to match the Mavs offer sheet to Marcin Gortat. Odom and his agent Jeff Schwartz are unlikely to [...]

My name is Patrick Crawley (a.k.a. The Basketball Fiend). I’m new to the FanSided roster, but I’ve been the managing editor over at Basketball Fiend for a year. I’m looking forward to contributing to Sir Charles in Charge and working with great writers like Andrew, Justin, Drew, and Adam. Check out my first contribution to SCIC below and, if you like it, head over to Basketball Fiend for more NBA content.
