Happy 50th Birthday, Sir Charles Barkley

While Michael Jordan’s media dominating 50th birthday took place on All-Star Sunday (ironic), we here at Sir Charles in Charge would like to wish a Happy 50th birthday to one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players of All Time, Sir Charles Barkley himself.

We hold a special spot in our hearts for Sir Charles here at Sir Charles in Charge. In honor of his birthday today, I’m going to post some of his greatest plays and some of our favorite Sir Charles moments.

Of course, there are far too many for us to gather them all, so we’ll post what we find and you reply to us with some of your own!

Thanks to his outstanding career which began in Philadelphia, took a pit stop in Phoenix, and eventually concluded in Houston, Sir Charles was enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2006. Congrats, Charles!!

Watch his speech here:

Once his playing days were over, Sir Charles did not abandon us. Rather, he graced us with his ever so entertaining NBA analysis on TNT’s Inside the NBA. We’ve enjoyed our fair share of laughs over the years at Sir Charles’ expense, and for that, we are forever in his debt.

Enjoy this next clip (and by the way, GREAT MUSTACHE!!!).

And what would a Charles Barkley tribute be without an ode to his Tiger Woods-esque golf game. Just watch:

(They weren’t laughing at you, Charles. They were laughing ……. with you.)

And lastly, a clip that’s more recent and fresh on our minds, we have a story told by Karl Malone about Barkley’s Vaseline habits:

Well then …

Aside from the ridicule of his golf game, and his disturbing Vaseline habits being revealed, Charles Barkley is one of the greatest players to ever play the game, as evidenced by his name being among the 50 Greatest NBA Players of All Time and being enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

We’re proud of you, Charles. Thank you for your great career, and most of all:

Happy Birthday!!!
