This is just going to drag on isn’t it?
Early Friday, the Boston Celtics announced that a news conference with Doc Rivers and president of basketball operations Danny Ainge would be postponed until Monday.
It’s unclear on what the news conference was originally going to be about, but for the past week the Celtics have engaged in extensive talks with the Los Angeles Clippers regarding Rivers and Forward Kevin Garnett.
The “high school drama” affair between the two teams hit a roadblock on Thursday, when NBA commissioner David Stern threw wrench into the teams’ plans.
The rumored deal was one that would send Rivers and Garnett to the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan and two first-round picks.
This just seems to be a never ending attempt by the Clippers. You have to wonder if the relationship between Rivers and the Celtics is too damaged — with all the rumors/proposed deals — for him to return.
I know the reports say no, but c’mon.
My guess is that this HAS to get done, right? For the sake of the Celtics and for Rivers. The worst case scenario for both parties — in my opinion — is a deal doesn’t get done and Rivers is back on the C’s bench in October.
UPDATE: Per Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski…
Clippers raised idea of future 2nd round pick for rights to Doc Rivers, but Celtics waiting on 1st rounder, sources tell Y! Talks nowhere.

This is bad. Really bad.
