Once again, the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics are making noise. This time, it looks for reals. Hopefully. Maybe.
According to Yahoo! NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers and Celtics are near an agreement that would send the rights of coach Doc Rivers to LA for a future 1st round pick in exchange.
This comes after on again/off again affairs between the two teams that have been going on for the past two weeks. It became pretty obvious that the two sides needed to somehow make this deal. Especially, after the report that came out yesterday.
Chris Sheridan (Sheridanhoops.com) reported that Rivers has an “intense” dislike for Rondo, stemming from a confrontation the two had in the locker room following a Celtics meeting. Rivers apparently tried to fight Rondo after the All-Star point guard dropped the F-bomb on him.
I really hope, for the Celtics sake, that this trade offer (if in fact that is what it is) goes through.
I’m sure this is the first of a couple deals these two teams make. The Clippers have been rumored to also be very much interested in Kevin Garnett, maybe Paul Pierce as well. They might be a package deal — to give the C’s cap relief.
