NBA Free Agency: Predictions Sure to go Wrong

The Milwaukee Bucks will do something stupid. — This is such a Bucks thing to do. Monta Ellis – no offense – is not the long-term answer for this team. Neither is Brandon Jennings – in my opinion. I’m not sure what the Bucks should do this offseason, but re-signing these two players will be a mistake.

Teams will look at Andrew Bynum like they do Greg Oden. – that’s a mistake. Bynum can play. If you’re a team that has a need for a center, and don’t get Dwight Howard, you should have Bynum on line two. When he gets healthy (notice how I used “when” and not “if”) he will be an All-Star again.

Dallas will strikeout on Dwight Howard, go on to sign Josh Smith or Andrew Bynum. – There’s really no shame in this if you’re a Mavericks fan. Teaming up Dirk Nowitzki with either one of these players should result in a playoff appearance next season. Dallas, be encouraged.

Dwight Howard will sign with the Houston. – If it’s any consolation, the Los Angeles Lakers will finish a close second. It’s been clear, from day one, that the big man doesn’t want to be in LA. He wants to be in a smaller market, and at the moment, it appears that Houston is the best fit. Houston has the young pieces to entire Dwight, brining in Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler to the meeting won’t hurt either.

Rajon Rondo won’t be traded this offseason. – There’s no hiding it now. The Boston Celtics are in full-fledged rebuilding mode. They traded away Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry. It may be time to trade away Rajon Rondo, but not yet. I think he eventually will get traded, but not during this offseason.

Metta World Peace won’t be on the Lakers roster in October. – It’s been fun. Oh wait, wrong person? Well, this guy too. Regardless of what happens this summer with Dwight Howard, the Lakers need to look to shred some salary. They still have their amnesty and MWP could be the lucky (or unlucky, depending how you look at it) customer.

LaMarcus Aldridge will not get traded, but he will demand one…again. – Aldridge, reportedly, “demanded” a trade, then he didn’t. Sounds like a drama starting up in Portland, no? Isn’t his how the whole “Dwightmare” started? SIGH. I hope this doesn’t happen again, but something tells me it will. The former Texas power forward will ask for a trade, who knows if he gets it.
