NBA Free Agency: Ranking Dwight's Possible Destinations

Free Agency is here and it hasn’t disappointed, yet. Dwight Howard — the most coveted free agent in this year’s class — has already sat down with the Houston Rockets and has scheduled meetings with Golden State, Atlanta, Dallas and Los Angeles.

Here I will breakdown all those destinations, and based on that, will predict where Dwight ultimately ends up based on an inverted point system.

  1. 5 points
  2. 4 points
  3. 3 points
  4. 2 points
  5. 1 point

RANKING W/O DWIGHT ON THEIR ROSTER

  1. Golden State (Their young core of Steph Curry, Harrison Barnes and Klay Thompson is really second to none of this list)
  2. Los Angeles (They will still have Kobe Bryant no matter what Dwight decides)
  3. Houston (James Harden is the second best player in this group of players)
  4. Dallas (Dirk needs help. Desperately)
  5. Atlanta (In complete rebuilding mode.)

RANKING W/ DWIGHT ON THEIR ROSTER

  1. Houston (James Harden + Dwight beats out any other combo any of the other teams can create, especially since Kobe is coming off an injury)
  2. Golden State (Steph Curry + Klay Thompson + Dwight would be nice)
  3. Los Angeles (This mostly depends on how Kobe comes back from his injury)
  4. Dallas (Dirk + Dwight would be intriguing to say the least)
  5. Atlanta (Again, they are rebuilding)

NOTE: Golden State is rumored to offer Andrew Bogut + Harrison Barnes or Klay Thompson in any sign-and-trade deal for Dwight Howard.

GUARD PLAY W/ DWIGHT

  1. Golden State (Steph Curry + Klay Thompson)
  2. Houston (Patrick Beverley + James Harden)
  3. Los Angeles (Steve Nash + Kobe Bryant)
  4. Dallas (Darren Collison ? + O.J. Mayo?)*
  5. Atlanta (Dennis Schroeder + Louis Williams)
*Both are free agents
FRONTLINE W/ DWIGHT
  1. Los Angeles (Pau Gasol + Metta World Peace)
  2. Dallas (Dirk Nowitzki + Vince Carter)
  3. Golden State (Draymond Green* + David Lee* )
  4. Atlanta (Al Hortford + DeShawn Stevenson*)
  5. Houston (Greg Smith* + Chandler Parsons)
*subject to change
COACHING
  1. Dallas (Rick Carlisle)
  2. Los Angeles (Mike D’Antoni)
  3. Golden State (Mark Jackson)
  4. Houston (Kevin McHale)
  5. Atlanta (Mike Budenholzer)
THE RESULTS
  1. Golden State – 20 points
  2. Los Angeles – 19 points
  3. Houston – 15 points
  4. Dallas – 15 points
  5. Atlanta – 6 points

Interesting, to say the least.

According to this unscientific reasoning, Dwight Howard should sign with the Golden State Warriors!
