NBA Free Agency: MWP Expected To Be Amnestied

As expected — coming into the offseason — it is being reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to use their amnesty on forward Metta World Peace.

Kevin Ding, of the Orange County Register, tweeted the following late Monday afternoon.

World Peace’s time with the Lakers was bound to end, soon. But what I found most interesting is what Ding goes on to say (in his next tweet) about what the Lakers will do with their vacant small forward starting position.

I find the idea of Kobe permanently move to the three position as intriguing to say the least. He played as a part-time small forward, at times, last season (when playing small with Antawn Jamison at the PF failed).

Ding says they will likely sign a minimum free agent to fill that void, if not Kobe.

I guess names that should be tying back to LA, once MWP gets the amnesty, should be Anthony Morrow, Corey Brewer and Ronnie Brewer?

Anything is a guess at this point. But one thing is for sure, MWP isn’t expected to be in LA come training camp.
