Carmelo Anthony Wants To Stay In New York

Carmelo Anthony doesn’t want to talk about his, potential, impending free agency. That’s a shame.

Anthony, who has a player option after the upcoming season, went on record on Bloomerberg Television’s “Market Markers” and addressed his situation with the New York Knicks…

“I’m not going nowhere,” Anthony said…

“That is one of the reasons why I wanted to come here to New York, just so I could take on those pressures and those challenges,” Anthony said. “A lot of people do not like to deal with the pressure. A lot of people do not know how to deal with the challenges they face. To me, it is everyday life.”

Anthony sounds pretty decided when it comes to his decision next summer, however, he still will probably opt-out (just to get a new contract out of it). He’s saying all the “right things”. Remember when LeBron James was saying all the “right things” when he was in Cleveland? Yeah.

I really don’t see any upside with Melo staying with the Knicks. Earlier this summer, he said his “window was closing”. If the window closes, say, this season in New York, why continue to stay?

Could his situation with the Knicks turn into his situation with the Denver Nuggets? The Knicks are a couple of injuries from having a really mediocre team. Anthony needs to really think about this decision, more than he believes.
