Andrew Bynum is ready to return in a big way this season, after missing all of last year as a member of the Philadelphia Sixers. However, contrary to popular belief, he is not ready yet. And probably won’t be for some time.
Training camp begins Oct. 1, with the Cavs’ first preseason game a week later (vs. the Milwaukee Bucks).
One source familiar with Bynum’s progress told FOX Sports Ohio that Bynum is nowhere near ready and is likely to miss the entire preseason. He could, however, give it a go early in the regular season, if not for the opener Oct. 30 vs. the Brooklyn Nets.
I’m sure there’s no one in the Cleveland Cavaliers corner that is urging Bynum to rush his recover and return, but I guess we have to start asking the question: when is Bynum returning?
We all know that the Cavs took a chance on him, a big one, but the fact that he’s “nowhere near ready” is alarming. I know we haven’t even entered training camp, but this is a story that definitely needs monitoring.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but for Cavs fans, it probably will. Bynum needs time, but, in all honesty, how much time?
We never know, and year after year, that always seems to be the problem with Bynum.
