Dwight Howard Left Los Angeles Because He Wanted To Win

This might add a little salt to the fresh wound of Los Angeles Lakers fans, but…

In a sitdown interview with CSN Houston, Dwight Howard said that he left the Lakers organization, basically, because he wanted to win. Apparently, the Lakers are good enough with the roster assembled as-is to do that.

“The biggest part was leaving a storied franchise and also leaving a lot of money on the table, but in order to win you’ve got to sacrifice something. It would have been great to have that stuff, the money and all that stuff, but I want to win.”

Perhaps the worse part of this whole thing for Lakers fans is that Howard isn’t lying. He does have a better chance to win in Houston than he would have in LA. Houston will probably have a better season than Los Angeles this season, but Lakers fans will still be claiming that they don’t need Howard. Amazing.

Lakers fans have their pride, no doubt. It’s going to be interesting to see how this whole Kobe v Dwight decision plays out. The Lakers picked Kobe over the big man. Will it backfire on them? Only time will tell.

Have fun with Dwight! Enjoy his dribbling the ball off his foot, making horrible passes out of double teams, air balling 3 foot hook shots, missing over half his free throws and not getting back on D whenever he thinks he is fouled (which is literally every play).
