Let’s be real, LeBron James doesn’t really have one true rival right now. Not anymore. There probably was a time, before he won his first ring, when he did and that person was Paul Pierce. He irritated him, got in his head and beat him on a multiple of occasions (when it counted).

But not anymore — we know it and now apparently LeBron knows it.

“Paul was one of those rival guys, but I’ve been going against different guys the last few years.

“It’s not just one guy,” James said. “I haven’t played against one individual for a long period of time — since basically it was me and Paul. Me and Paul, we had so many duels and almost every year we were going against Boston whether I was in Cleveland the last few years or Miami … So, I don’t know if there is one particular guy. There are some teams I believe are very competitive in both conferences, but it’s not just one guy.”

I really don’t know who LeBron’s next rival will be or could be. Ideally, it’ll be Kevin Durant but they just haven’t played each other enough times when it counts. Maybe they’ll meet up again this year and KD will end the Heat’s pursuit to a three-peat.

That would be a great formula to jumpstart a rivalry.
