Not even the most extreme of fans believe that the New York Knicks will win the NBA Championship this season. Though, there are some exceptions. In this case, the team owner and Madison Square Garden executive chairman James Dolan expects them to do so.
In a recent meeting with the coaching staff and some team executives, Dolan said he believes the Knicks have enough talent to win a title and that he expects them to do so this season, league sources with knowledge of the owner’s message during the meeting confirmed.
“He told them he believes they have enough talent to win it all,” one source said, “and he expects it to happen this year.”
I mean the fact that he’s a team owner, makes this a little more believable. Every team owner, one way or another, should have more optimism about their team than others. That’s how it should be but it’s not always the case. Kudos to Dolan.
Do I believe they have the talent? No. Apart from Carmelo Anthony, no.
Do I believe that if they make a few moves, maybe get a better head coach, will they be able to be serious contenders in the near future? Yes. Just not this season. Stop it.
Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets – the teams that are all better than the Knicks on paper in the Eastern Conference. It’s silly, just silly, to believe the Knicks will win a title this season.
