Pencil Victor Oladipo into the 2014 NBA Dunk Contest…if he’s invited

Orlando Magic rookie guard Victor Oladipo is averaging 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.8 steals in his first four games. Also, one insane dunk every four games.

On Sunday, Oladipo showed just how much athleticism the rookie has after unleashing the rarely seen 360-dunk off a steal against the Brooklyn Nets.

Exhibit A:

It’s safe to say that Oladipo has the ability to participate in the dying NBA dunk contest, but does he want in?

Yes.

Magic guard Victor Oladipo told me after the club’s win against the Brooklyn Nets that he would be interested in competing in the slam-dunk contest during All-Star Weekend.

Oladipo turned in an eye-opening audition Sunday night, completing a 360-degree dunk off a steal from Nets point guard Deron Williams.

“My teammates kept telling me to be aggressive. I just listened,” Oladipo said.

The NBA has a hard enough time trying to may the dunk contest sexy enough to get players to want to join, so the fact that Oladipo has interest should be good enough. Plus, the fact that he’s a high-profiled rookie won’t hurt him either.

Expect Oladipo to be in the dunk contest during all-star weekend.
