The Houston Rockets want to make a trade. The Chicago Bulls would be more than happy to get rid of some salary to save some money and avoid major tax. And the Portland Trail Blazers could really use a true center.
See anything there that makes some sense?
Well, the guys over at Blog A Bull did some good work in sketching out a deal that would (likely) make all of these three teams happy.
Houston gets: Taj Gibson, Kirk Hinrich
Portland gets: Omer Asik
Cheap contract platter o’ crud: not even expiring because that’s just not available. Talking some combination of 2-year deals like Thomas Robinson, Joel Freeland / Meyers Leonard, Victor Claver, minimum player like Barton or Crabbe. Just assuming that Portland’s rotation+McCollum is off the table.
Aaron Brooks from Houston.
Maybe a pick? Portland owes a first-rounder to Charlotte, and they’d be the candidate to give one up in this scenario. Houston has their first but if you want that pick you’re probably going to expect a downgrade from Jones to someone like Motiejunas. So, probably not a pick.
It makes sense for all three teams. But remember, in the NBA, things that usually make too much sense, rarely happen. But if anything, it’s something to think about.
Also, how good would Portland be with Asik?
