NBA Trade Rumors: Rockets asking for two first round picks in exchange for Asik

Remember when a report came out that the Houston Rockets were asking for an impact player or a 2014 lottery draft pick in exchange for disgruntled center Omer Asik? Well, another report recently was leaked that would put that former to bed.

According to Alan Hahn of MSG, any team can have Asik but it’s going to be a litter harder than originally thought.

The disgruntled center can be had, but Houston isn’t just giving him away. In fact, the Rockets are setting the market high for Asik, with a demand of two first round picks in any deal.

Wait, what?? Two first round picks? That’s insane. Isn’t that insane? For Asik? For a career 5.4 points and seven rebounds per game? Isn’t there something wrong with this picture?

Granted, this asking price is, I guess, a rumor. After all, only the Rockers – and whomever they’re negotiating with – know the actual price. But still, if that is an automatic request (from the Rockets), that’s just insane — also, almost improbable.

You aren’t going to find many teams – if any – that would be willing to just hand over two first round picks to the Rockets for a center, that while he has potential, isn’t a difference-making player right now.

Good luck, Houston. It appears that Asik is probably going to remain a Rocket for a little longer than originally anticipated.
