The only thing better than playing in the NBA is playing in the NBA on the same team as your brother. Right now, that could be a real possibility for Pau Gasol, who is set to become a free agent in 2014.
According to NBA.com’s Scott Howard-Cooper, Gasol wouldn’t be opposed to returning where it all started for him — the Memphis Grizzlies. It also happens to be the team that his brother, Marc Gasol, plays for.

“It’s appealing. One of the best centers in the NBA, one of the best interior players, is my brother,” Gasol said. “There’s a lot of attractive factors there. But who knows if that’s even a possibility or if that will ever happen.”
Gasol also said that he feels a certain amount of loyalty toward the Lakers organization—with which he won back-to-back NBA championships in 2009 and 2010.
However, Gasol added, “I would like to first be in a position to win a championship again and enjoy the last few years of my career and be in a good position to do so.”
No matter how much both parties want to a Gasol-to-Memphis return happen, the biggest player in all this is probably Zach Randolph — who has a player option for the 2014-15 season. If he opts-in, it’ll be a longshot for Gasol to sign with Memphis. However, if he declines and becomes a free agent, then anything could happen.
Even if the idea never gets serious at all this summer, the thought of a return to Memphis to play alongside Marc in itself is intriguing.
