The New York Knicks actually have a contract on their team that isn’t scaring away other teams from inquiring about.
No, not Carmelo Anthony.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, if the Knicks wanted to, they could be fielding trade offers for Chandler right now. Unfortunately, for the other teams, the Knicks don’t plan on doing that anytime soon.
The Knicks continue to get calls for center Tyson Chandler and, according to sources close to the situation, continue to scoff at every one. New York, to this point, has no interest in parting with its defensive anchor. (Which is smart if the Knicks are set on re-signing Carmelo Anthony to that megadeal this summer.)
According to the Knicks, a number of teams are asking about Chandler – or would like the opportunity to inquire about him. However, the Knicks are content on keeping Chandler at the moment, which makes sense.
Though, according to reports, there is one way in which the Knicks would consider trading Chandler – if the said team would take J.R. Smith’s contract back as well. Figuring how no one would do that, it’s safe to say that Chandler isn’t going anywhere.
Chandler could be a key in persuading Carmelo Anthony to re-sign in New York this summer, God knows that the Knicks are going to need all the help they could get in doing that.
Right now it appears that Chandler is a lock to stay in New York, as he should.
