Don’t worry, guys. Damian Lillard is here to save the NBA Dunk Contest.
According to a report from CSN Northwest, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard will accept an invitation to participate in the 2014 NBA Dunk Contest, that takes place Feb. 15th.
With that said, Lillard is also here to save the Skills Competition and the Three-Point Contest — which he’s also been invited too. Oh, yea. While he’s at it, he’ll also participate in the Rookies-Sophomore game on Friday night (Feb. 14) and in the NBA All-Star game on Sunday (Feb. 16).
The NBA has broached Lillard with an attractive, unprecedented opportunity. They’ve asked him to consider the Three-Point Shooting Contest as well, another source relayed to CSNNW.com.
So far, the reining Rookie of the Year is committed to defending his Skills Challenge title; he’s competing in the Dunk Contest, the Rising Stars Challenge and the All-Star game.
No player in the history of the game has ever competed in all five All-Star Weekend events in the same weekend. The NBA will announce those participating tomorrow.
This would be an awfully exhausting schedule to take, even for such a young player such as Lillard. I wonder what the coaching staff in Portland thinks of this?
However, I absolutely love that Lillard is going to enter the Dunk contest. Send a message to the rest of the “stars” in the league. Someone has to.
All-Star break, what All-Star break?
