The consensus big board for the 2014 NBA draft has somewhat fluctuated throughout the season. Andrew Wiggins has seen his time on top, as has Jabari Parker. Suddenly, before his injury, the more people you talk to the more you get the impression that Joel Embiid is now that top player. After all, it’s all about the big men.
However, the Philadelphia 76ers never bought into all that fluctuation. They’ve known who they’ve wanted since day one — Andrew Wiggins.
According to ESPN’s draft guru Chad Ford, the Sixers have had the Kansas star atop their big board since the day they decided to ta…I mean since the start of the season.
In the midst of a 20-game losing streak, the SIxers have had Wiggins atop their board all year, and believe he’d be the perfect complement to Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel, and Thaddeus Young. The athleticism on that team would be crazy.
Parker is another option, as is Kentucky’s Julius Randle (the Sixers could use someone who can draw a double-team down low). They also likely will have the Pelicans’ pick (it’s top-5 protected) and look to add a big or shooter to the team.
The Sixers currently have the league’s second worst record, behind only the Milwaukee Bucks. Because, of course.
While Wiggins may be the Sixers’ top target, he is not the only option. Ford also mentions Duke’s Jabari Parker and Kentucky’s Julius Randle as other potential picks for the Sixers.
