Andrew Wiggins didn’t wast any time in declaring for the NBA Draft earlier this week. Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid, on the other hand, aren’t being as decisive.
According to ESPN’s Chad Ford, Parker and Embiid both remain undecided on the issue.
Both are weighing their options. Both are seriously considering returning, with Parker so much so that several scouts are claiming he’s coming back to school. But I think that’s premature. They have time. … I think both will probably declare at the end of the day, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they stayed either.
Parker described his freshman season as “incomplete” and Embiid technically finished his freshman season incomplete, as he wasn’t able to participate in the NCAA Tournament due to a lingering back issue.
With that said, if both were to return it would definitely be the unpopular decision. NBA teams are salivating at the mouth, waiting for both these draft projected top-three players. To make them wait another season would be unfortunate.
The deadline for early draft entry is April 27, so we’ll find out fairly soon if Parker and Embiid are actually going to return to school or not.
