New York Knicks' Tyson Chandler believes team could makes some noise, if they make the playoffs

At the beginning of the season, many believed that the New York Knicks were the third best team in the Eastern Conference. After all, behind the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers, what else has there been out East?

But after a less than stellar start (and continuation) to the regular season, the Knicks are just fighting to get in the playoffs.  However, once they get in (or if), they could be a team to keep an eye on. Carmelo Anthony and streaking shooters in a playoff series can add up to a very dangerous squad — at least Knicks center Tyson Chandler thinks so.

“I always thought we’d really give our ourselves a shot of making the playoffs. I still believe if we get in there, somebody’s going to be in trouble.”

The Knicks are 12-3 in their last 15 games and are kind of a hot team, if you base it off paper. In their last 15 games, the Knicks lead the NBA in offensive rating (112.8). The problem, however, maintains to be their defense which is ranked 25th in the league (106.7 points allowed per 100 possessions).

But if they were to face a team such as Indiana, who have completely lost their offensive identity, in the first round, you would have to at least give the Knicks a puncher’s chance, if nothing else.

I’m not saying that the Knicks would upset the Pacers, but I wouldn’t put anything past Carmelo Anthony and this rejuvenated Knicks team. If nothing else, a series between the Knicks and Pacers or Heat would provide plenty of storylines and great theatre.

It’d definitely beat anything the Atlanta Hawks would give us.
