GMs believe that Carmelo Anthony will re-sign with the New York Knicks

Perhaps the biggest story of the offseason will be where Carmelo Anthony decides to play for the next few seasons — and whether that is in New York or not.

Especially now that most believe LeBron James will re-sign, or opt-in, with the Miami Heat, it’s safe to say that Melo will be THE story of the offseason.

And according to NBA executives, most believe that Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks. At least, that’s the impression that Fox Sports’ Sam Amico is receiving right now.

Similarly, Amico is hearing that the Big Three will remain intact in Miami.

Still, it appears that the Knicks have the early lead in the clubhouse for Melo this summer — and with the way their roster (and future plans) is setup, they’re going to need all the lead they can get. Especially when we factor in that they’re going to have to recruit against the likes of Houston, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Can Phil Jackson close the deal, though? It just may come down to him. I mean, isn’t that the reason they hired him?
