2014 NBA Playoffs: Previewing the Washington Wizards

Record: 44-38

Head Coach: Randy Wittman

Regular Season Team MVP: John Wall

First Round Opponent: Chicago Bulls

Regular Season Series vs. Chicago: Wizards won 2-1.

The Washington Wizards haven’t seen the playoffs since the 2007-08 season. The next season, things got ugly. For 2009-10, John Wall was placed as the man. And, each year, their winning percentage increased until now it looks like they’ll have a winning record for the first time since 07-08.

Wall and Bradley Beal have made a statement as being the backcourt of the future of this team. They may not shoot like the boys in Golden State, but, this duo can score. Don’t forget about the rest of the roster. The pre-season pick-up of Marcin Gortat was nice. I like him. When Nene has been healthy, he’s useful. They got Andre Miller in February. Dude can still play and is going to be a key veteran guy in the playoffs.

The Wizards have a first round date with the Chicago Bulls. The Wizards bested the Bulls 2-1 in the season series. We’ll see if the Wizards can translate their regular season success against Chicago to the playoffs.

Do I see the Wizards beating the Bulls? No, I don’t. Probably lose in five games. But, it’s a start for this team. They have young talent all over the place although they still need some key pieces, this team is heading in the right direction.
