NBA Draft: Joel Embiid Suffers Stress Facture In Foot

Joel Embiid has indeed suffered a stress fracture in his right foot, and is expected to undergo surgery.

According to reports, potential No. 1 pick in June 26th’s NBA Draft Joel Embiid has suffered a right foot injury and may have broken it.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman’s source reports that Embiid’s camp should know more on the severity of the injury on Friday after consulting with doctors.

“He suffered a foot injury to his right foot, sometime over the last few days,” agent Arn Tellem told ESPN’s Andy Katz by phone Thursday. “He’s getting evaluations from various doctors and experts in the field. We’ll know more Friday.”

“He may have broken it,” one source told ESPN.

It can be a broken foot, or it could be nothing at all. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo, Embiid had been running without any issues during the past few days. It’s either a not-so-serious injury getting blown up by the media, or it’s an injury that surfaced out of nowhere. It sounds like Embiid doesn’t even know when he hurt it.

Either way, a big man with foot troubles is absolutely terrifying for NBA teams that are looking to draft him — specifically the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Just when it seems like Cleveland had their man, they’re probably going to go back to the draft board. You just have too. If Embiid’s foot is indeed broken, the top of this draft just got a whole lot more interesting.
