NBA Draft Rumors: Heat Trying To Trade Up For Shabazz Napier

NBA Draft Rumors

The Miami Heat are willing to do everything in their power to keep LeBron James on their team. And according to a report from ESPN’s Chad Ford, that means trying to trade up high enough in tomorrow’s NBA Draft in order to assure themselves a chance to draft Shabazz Nappier, who happens to be LeBron’s favorite player in the draft.

LeBron tweeted during the NCAA Tournament that he believed that Napier was the best point guard in the draft. And what LeBron James wants, you try everything in you power to give him.

Many draft projections have Napier going from anywhere between the late lottery, to the late 20’s (the Heat have the 26th pick). It wouldn’t be a huge leap in order to draft Napier, but I’m not sure what kind of assets the Heat have in order to trade up. Perhaps they trade a second round pick, or maybe a future pick? I’m just not really sure what kind of wiggle room they have here.

Napier averaged 18 points, six rebounds and five assists last season at the University of Connecticut. He also led the Huskies on a magical NCAA Tournament run as they topped Kentucky in the National Championship game.
