The NBA Draft is finally here — the perfect combination of suspense and theatre.
Where NBA trades occur and where franchise players are born. To sum it all up, anything that you can possibly predict (even what you can’t fathom) has an opportunity of happening.
That’s the beauty of the NBA Draft.
And as the draft slowly approaches, here are a few of my BOLD draft predictions.
SOMEONE WILL DRAFT SHABAZZ NAPIER WAY TOO EARLY BECAUSE OF LEBRON JAMES
LeBron believes that Napier is the best point guard in the draft and even tweeted about his appreciation for the UCONN guard during the NCAA Tournament. Someone will buy that bait way to early in the draft.
KEVIN LOVE WILL NOT BE TRADED
Even though there have been contradicting reports regarding the availability of Kevin Love this week, I feel like he is closer to being traded than he is to returning to the Wolves this year. However, I don’t think he’ll be dealt on draft night.
RAJON RONDO WILL
I have this weird feeling that something crazy is going to happen on draft night, and I just have this hunch that Danny Ainge is holding his cards a little closer to his chest than every other GM in the NBA is. If the Celtics can’t land Love, which it doesn’t appear they will, it’s time to trade Rajon Rondo — on draft night could be the perfect time.
THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL MAKE THE “RIGHT” CHOICE AT NO. 1
The Cavs can’t afford to get cute on draft night. When it’s all said and done, they’ll likely take Andrew Wiggins. He was the choice all along, once Joel Embiid was pretty much disqualified due to injury.
DOUG MCDERMOTT WILL TAKE A TUMBLE
While I’m a fan of the former Creighton star, I’m assuming that not a lot of GMs in the NBA are. While his offensive shooting prowess will transfer to the NBA game, he could find a very hard time defending NBA forwards because of his size and lack of speed. There are real question marks.
JOEL EMBIID WILL FALL TO THE LAKERS OR CELTICS
Apart from his cryptic deleted tweet from last night that read: I’m a Laker, I believe that the 7-foot center will fall to either one of these franchises, and both would jump on the opportunity to draft (potentially) the next Hakeem Olajuwon. Plus, I believe his agent in angling for a big market franchise.
