With nearly every “top” second tier free agent already agreeing to terms, and none of them with the Miami Heat, it’s time for Pat Riley to back a bag and take a free agent recruiting trip to Los Angeles.
He’ll be selling selling the promise of rings, rather than the fact that the Heat may not have much money to offer.
Pat Riley is still setting up free agent meetings for his trip to L.A. this week, selling promise of rings over Miami’s shrinking cap space.

Quite frankly, in simpler words, Riley is on his way to try and snag Trevor Ariza.
As @EthanJSkolnick just said Woj’s report basically means Pat Riley is going after Trevor Ariza

With the free agency class drying up, and the likes of Marcin Gortat and Kyle Lowry all re-signing with their teams, the Heat haven’t really done anything to “improve” their roster. LeBron James hasn’t guaranteed that he’s going to re-sign in Miami and Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade haven’t exactly “agreed” to taking significant enough pay cuts to bring in big time talents.
The Heat are, in a way, stuck.
It’s time for Pat Riley to begin doing some of that magic that he did in 2010 — and that could start on this trip to Los Angeles. If Riley can get a promise, and fight off the huge money, from Ariza, that would be huge.
It won’t be easy, and there’s definitely no guarantee, but if Riley wants to keep LeBron in Miami this is almost a must.
If the Heat strikeout on Ariza, then what exactly is left?
