While much of the NBA Free Agency spotlight is obsessed with every move that LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony are doing right now, it appears that the Chicago Bulls are beginning to shift their priority past Anthony and onto Pau Gasol.
And for good measure, because the San Antonio Spurs continue to lurk in pursuit of Gasol.
According to a source, the Bulls feel that if Anthony goes elsewhere, they are one of the leading candidates to land free-agent big man Pau Gasol — unless Anthony happens to choose the Los Angeles Lakers, which could start the dominos falling and convince Gasol to re-sign with the Lakers.
Spurs persistence on Pau Gasol keeping them a serious contender, inching closer to the Bulls, league sources tell Yahoo.

This is so the Spurs. Letting the entire league fawn over LeBron and Melo — especially teams that have unrealistic dreams of landing them — while the Spurs go about their business, letting the market fall to them. Though, with the Bulls finally waking up and smelling the roses, it appears that they’ll be able to give Gasol the full court press. And should be able to do enough to ink the veteran forward.
Gasol will reportedly wait until after Carmelo Anthony comes to a decision before ultimately making a decision himself. Anthony have reportedly been recruiting Gasol to New York, but Gasol is more interested in playing with Melo if he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, if the Spus were to somehow land Gasol, we might as well schedule the parade now.
