Pat Riley stated that Josh McRoberts was one of Miami’s top targets to grab in this summer’s free agency. McRoberts played with the Charlotte Bobcats, now known as the Charlotte Hornets, for all of last season and a little of the 2012-2013 season after being traded by the Orlando Magic. He was given a starting role in Charlotte and was a great all-around player.

McRoberts is a 6-foot-10 power forward who will really help the Heat gain some size to their roster, which was lacking last year. Not only that, but he is a big man that can shoot the three-ball very well, shooting 36 percent from long range last season. Much like Chris Bosh does now, he will help the Heat spread the floor and open lanes for other players to get to the basket.

The Heat signed him to a four-year contract that will give him $5.3 million next year. Pat Riley is very excited to have him on the roster, saying “We are delighted that this multifaceted player will help us immensely.” He averaged 8.5 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists per game last season with Charlotte.
