NBA Rumors

With the Golden State Warriors making Klay Thompson unavailable for trade talks, most publicized in their pursuit for Kevin Love, perhaps it’s time for them to put a ring on the “other” Splash Brother.

Thompson, who joined Team USA at camp earlier this week, was hoping that an extension would be done by now but no agreement has been reached between the two sides. Which, could mean one of two things.

Either, the Warriors aren’t entirely throwing out the idea of trading Thompson, or it could mean nothing.

Though, odds would point to the latter, especially after the way Thompson spoke to Yahoo! this past weekend.

“We got a good core. I feel we have one of the better backcourts in the league,” Thompson, referring to his backcourt mate Stephen Curry, told Yahoo Sports on Sunday.

“I feel like we have a team that can do big things. Health is going to be huge, but I feel like we can make big strides this year.

“The fact that I haven’t been traded yet makes me feel comfortable. That speaks for itself.”

Thompson averaged 18.4 points per game last season in Golden State, while shooting 44 percent from the field. Golden State could potentially offer Thompson the “Steph Curry” extension soon.

Curry signed a four-year deal worth $11 million annually in 2012. Could Thompson expect something close to that?
