NBA Rumors

Either Miami Heat free agent Ray Allen has made a decision to play next season, or he hasn’t.

Yet. Obviously.

However, with conflicting reports, he could be close to making said decision.

According to ESPN, Ray Allen is telling people that he will play next season rather than retiring.

Ray Allen has told people close to him that he will play in the NBA next season instead of retiring, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Though, Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Allen’s decision still hasn’t been made yet. At least, not according to his agent, Jim Tanner.

Meanwhile, Chris Broussard, the originator of the piece of information that Allen was telling people he was going to play this season, is sticking to that original piece of information. Despite not telling his agent, Allen already knows he’s going to play. A decision won’t likely be official until September, though. Per Allen himself.

“It’s August and I don’t want to rush to judgment,” Allen said. “I want to get to September and see how I really feel.” Allen’s agent, Jim Tanner, told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday that Allen has yet to make a decision on playing next season. But privately, Allen has said he’s playing next season.

If Allen does return for a 19th NBA season, it’s likely that he’ll be in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform. At the moment, Cleveland is the overwhelming favorite to land the two-time champion’s services — and it’s not even close.
