NBA Rumors

All it took was one injury to Paul George to make Indiana’s “quiet” trade talks of Roy Hibbert into loud, known conversations.

Combine Lance Stephenson‘s departure (to the Charlotte Hornets) with George’s gruesome leg injury, and you will begin to understand why the Indiana Pacers are beginning to converse a bit louder on the Hibbert trade front. In other words, they’re damn near desperate.

After all, what good is a Roy Hibbert on a team that won’t even be good enough to sneak into a weak Eastern Conference?

Then again, what good was a Roy Hibbert on a team that had championship aspirations this past season?

Nevertheless, per Matt Dery of New Detroit Sports 105.1, the Pacers are now shopping Roy Hibbert.

In addition to the conversations the Pacers (reportedly) had with the Detroit Pistons, they also (reportedly) offered up Hibbert, Chris Copeland and cash to the Phoenix Suns for Goran Dragic.

It also sounds like the Suns declined the offer. And after Hibbert’s performance in last season’s playoffs, they’re probably going to get a lot of declinations when it comes to offers for Hibbert. With that said, the Pacers just need one team to say yes.

Whether they find that team remains to be seen. Also, whether they’re actually serious about trading Hibbert also remains to be seen.

Regardless of what’s being reported, this could just be the Pacers testing the waters. And at this point, after the offseason they’ve had, who can blame them?
