While it may feel like a forgone conclusion that Shawn Marion is going to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, once their trade for Kevin Love is complete, the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat are reportedly still holding out hope that they can land Marion.
Per Yahoo’s Marc J. Spears, the Heat and Clippers have joined the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers as teams interested in Marion’s services.
The Clippers the latest team showing interest in free agent forward Shawn Marion, a source said. Cavs, Pacers, Heat also still interested.

Marion, 36, met with Pacers president Larry Bird last week, though, the Cavaliers were still the “favorites” even after the fact. It was also reported last week that Cavaliers were “done deal” signing Marion, assuming that the Love deal goes through. And with the Love trade pretty much a “gentleman’s handshake agreement,” it’s not that difficult to put one-and-one together to get two.
There’s still time for Marion to change his mind and to join other contending teams, such as the Clippers and Heat. Though, at this point, even that would come off as surprise.
Especially to LeBron James‘ Cleveland Cavaliers.
