Carmelo Anthony seems do be doing everything right — at least ever since he made the “wrong” basketball decision when he elected to re-sign with the New York Knicks over signing with the Chicago Bulls.
Since that decision, he’s gotten in superb shape and isn’t force-feeding false information to Knicks fans. He says that the Knicks won’t win an NBA championship next season. One thing that he’s sure of, though, is that they will make the playoffs.
If that’s any consolation.
Carmelo Anthony already has claimed Knicks fans should not expect a championship this season.
But the playoffs are another matter. In fact, Anthony on Monday asserted his belief the Knicks “absolutely” will be back in the playoffs after missing out last season.
“Yeah, I think so for sure. Absolutely,” an impressively slimmed-down Anthony said of the Knicks’ playoff chances before entering the Jordan Gym Terminal 23 on W. 32nd Street for a late morning-to-early afternoon workout with a group of NBA players.
Melo also stated that he can’t wait to get the season started and said that there were “no goals,” which I assume means that there should be no expectations?
Luckily, in a weak Eastern Conference, nearly every team will have a chance to snag a playoff spot. Even though the conference won’t be as poor as last year’s, the Knicks should still have a substantial shot at sneaking one of the lower playoff seeds away from one of the incumbents.
