Perhaps Kevin Garnett won’t be returning after all next season.
Spoke with Lionel Hollins today. He has not spoken with Kevin Garnett. So still nothing new on that front. #Nets

While hope remained that Garnett would probably be back with the Nets this upcoming season, if nothing else to make his $12 million dollars he’s owed, the departure of Paul Pierce in the offseason is a bigger dagger than most realize.
If you remember, it was Pierce who had to convince Garnett not to waive his no-trade clause in order to be dealt to Brooklyn last offseason. And now, Garnett is still in Brooklyn while Pierce moved on to greener pastures.
Hollins on Pierce: “Players retire, players get traded, players leave in free agency. You take what you have and you work with them.” #Nets

Other than money, there’s really nothing waiting for Garnett in Brooklyn. At some point, money takes a backseat to happiness.
And right now that’s exactly what Garnett needs to ask himself. If that answer is no, and that he’s not happy, maybe it’s time for Garnett to hang up his jersey.
