The NBA announced Tuesday that Euroleague champion Maccabi Tel Aviv, and two other clubs, will be part of a record nine preseason games featuring international teams in North America.
Also participating will be Maccabi Haifa, also of Israel, and the Brazilian team Flamengo.
Maccabi Tel Aviv, which carries former NBA-er Jeremy Pargo, will open its trip Oct. 5 against the Cleveland Cavaliers and its former coach, David Blatt. They will then travel to Brooklyn two nights later to face the Nets.
Blatt coached Tel Aviv as an assistant coach from 1999-01, then became the head coach from 2001-03 and then again coached as an assistant for the 2003-04 season.
He returned to Tel Aviv in 2010, where he led his squad to a EuroLeague Championship in 2014 just prior to becoming the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
For Maccabi Haifa, their fourth trip in five years to the U.S., they will face the Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors.
Flamengo has dates set in Phoenix, Orlando and Memphis.
