Denver Nuggets: Kenneth Faried wants to remain in Denver

There was a point last season when it appeared that Kenneth Faried‘s days in a Denver Nuggets uniform were numbered.
Faried’s name was all over the trade wire, and there was no hiding that.

And now, Faried can admit that those trade rumors, whether they had any validity or not, affected him throughout most of last season.

With that said, that doesn’t mean he wants out of Denver. In fact, he wants the polar opposite. He wants to remain in Denver, and would like to agree to a new contract extension soon.

Faried, who is currently playing for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup, rebounded from a tough start to the year last season and closed the campaign by averaging 19.2 points and 9.8 rebounds in March and 21 points and 13 rebounds in April.

Currenlty, Faried is averaging 14.3 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting an out-of-this-world 80 percent from the field for Team USA in three games of the FIBA World Cup.

It would make sense for the Nuggets to lock-up Faried now, before he becomes a restricted free agent. If he were to become a RFA next summer though, Denver may have to “overpay” for the energetic big man because you know money gets thrown around like confetti during the summer.

As strange as it may sound, the Nuggets could probably get Faried at a discount now rather than paying market price for the big man.

Nevertheless, both sides want to strike a deal. It should get done by the Oct. 31 deadline.
