NBA Trade Rumors: Heat Eyeing Casspi; Magic Looking At Jeff Teague?

NBA Trade Rumors: The Miami Heat are reportedly eyeing Omri Casspi and the Orlando Magic could be thinking about a Victor Oladipo for Jeff Teague swap

As the NBA Trade Deadline looms, there are many rumors that will begin to surface. And over the last few days, we’ve begun to see the only the beginning of the flurry of trade rumors that will leak between now and deadline day.

Two of those rumblings include the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.

Miami, who desperately needs shooting, is reportedly targeting 27-year-old Omri Casspi of the Sacramento Kings, according to the Miami Herald’s Ethan Skolnick. Casspi isn’t a “sexy” name that many fans want to hear, but he’s pretty much all the Heat could realistically trade for right now. Plus, the only real fact that matters is that he’s a career 42 percent shooter from three-point range.

Skolnick would go on to say that the Kings would want Tyler Johnson in return and that no deal is imminent. He also mentioned that this is one of several deals that are reportedly being discussed in the Miami Heat’s front office.

Though, the fact that the Kings want Johnson could make this tricky. I highly doubt that the Heat would want to deal Johnson, who has made major strides in his game during the last couple of years. Plus, there’s the whole trading a 38 percent three-point shooter (which Johnson is) for a 40 percent three-point shooter (Casspi) doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Magic-Hawks Deal?

In addition to the Heat rumors, the other Florida team has been in the rumor mill recently too. The Orlando Magic are reportedly looking to make a move in attempt to field a more seasoned roster.

And according to the New York Daily News‘ Frank Isola, the Magic and Atlanta Hawks have discussed a deal centered around a Victor Oladipo – Jeff Teague swap.

This is coming on the heels of a report from ESPN that stated the Atlanta Hawks were thinking about blowing up their roster, potentially trading Kyle Korver, Al Horford and Jeff Teague.

With that said, the asking price for all those pieces remains high. And if a deal does indeed go down for any one of those players, don’t expect it to come before deadline day.

And, again, a lot can happen – and change – between now and next week.
