After moving DeMarcus Cousins, we explore what could be next for the Sacramento Kings as they begin a new rebuild

It was the week before the NBA Trade Deadline, and all was quiet through the house. Not a creature was stirring, not ev- DEMARCUS COUSINS GOT TRADED TO THE PELICANS?

I’m sure by the time this reaches your eyes reader you’re probably tired of hearing about the trade; but you’ve got to admit – in a league that’s become all about the deep ball, it’s interesting the Pelicans are going against modern logic by pairing two dominant big men.

With that being said though, these aren’t any big men. This is, (on paper), the best frontcourt duo….ever. You can try and make comparisons to past duos like Tim Duncan and the Admiral, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, or Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley…. but fail to make any true comparison to what is now the Pelicans’ frontcourt (for the time being).

Never have I ever seen in my short 20 years of living two 7+ footers who can shoot 3’s and make them at decent rates (35.4% on 4.9 3PA a game for Boogie, 30.6% on 1.6 3PA a game for A.D.) and be able to put the ball on the floor like a guard and/or drive in the game to obliterate opponents into next week with a rim-bending dunk.

While their numbers may not show it (3.0 APG for Cousins’ career, 1.8 for A.D.), A.D. and Boogie also happen to be some of the best passing big-men in the league. I’m not saying that they’re going to become point-forwards playing next to each other, but it’s not crazy to see Gentry running plays for Davis to kick it to a cutting Boogie, or Boogie bullying some center down low to kick it to Davis in the high post for his patented jumper. Or to a slashing Jrue Holiday. Or E’Twaun Moore. Or Solomon Hill. The possibilities are endless.

I’m not here to talk about the Pelicans though. I’m here to talk about the Kangz. They have officially hit the reset button and traded the best big man in the league for Buddy Curry, Tyreke Evans (a guy that used to play for SacTown), and Langston Galloway.

No, you’re crazy for not thinking Buddy Hield is Steph Curry 2.0.

No matter what you truly think about any of the above players, the Kangz do have building pieces as a result of this trade; and some (IMO) are already on the roster.
