NBA Rumors: The Chicago Bulls reportedly expect Dwyane Wade to opt-in this summer, which would make their offseason all the more complicated

A lot of what the Chicago Bulls decide to do this summer will likely be dictated by what Dwyane Wade elects to do with his impending player option for the 2017-18 NBA season.

And it looks like we may finally have his answer.

According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, Chicago believes that Wade will be opting in to his roughly $24 million payday for next season. Even though it’s not set in stone, he notes that it would be somewhat surprising if Wade opted out.

Of course, such decision would complicate things a bit more, if that was even possible, for the Bulls.

"[via Chicago Tribune]I can tell you is most everyone associated with the Bulls believes Wade will pick up the option and remain in Chicago for a second season. More surprising things have happened in league history, though. So stay tuned."

Chicago is in this weird situation where they don’t exactly want to build around Jimmy Butler, but are locked into this huge contract with Wade where they have to stay afloat for now, at least, before beginning or committing to a full rebuild.

They also have no idea what to do, or at least it seems that way.

Last summer they said they wanted to get younger. Then, they signed Rajon Rondo and Wade in free agency. Now, they’re kind of stuck. Plus, if Wade is staying around for another season, even if the Bulls wanted to trade Butler that probably won’t go down well with Wade.

Either way, Chicago is in for an interesting summer. And it likely begins with one big decision by Dwyane Wade, which will shape the offseason for the Bulls.
