Looking at a handful of possible landing spots for Jrue Holiday as NBA Free Agency tips off

During the 2016-17 NBA campaign, Jrue Holiday played 67 games. Why is that important? Because the last time that Holiday played 67 or more games, it was the 2012-13 season.

Now, he will hit the unrestricted free agency market. After averaging 15 points and seven assists per game for the Pelicans last season, where will he land in free agency? We have a few options.

San Antonio Spurs

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Jrue Holiday would be a good fit in San Antonio for many reasons. Frankly put, the San Antoni Spurs need a fill-in at point guard. Tony Parker suffered a serious injury during the playoffs and likely won’t be back until January (at best). Holiday could come in and fit right away with this group.

San Antonio could benefit from Holiday’s deep shooting and natural ability to score the basketball, something they have missed from the point guard positions since Parker’s glory days.

Detroit Pistons

The Pistons are in need of a good guard who can drive the ball, attack the rim, and pass out to open players. Jrue is great in that category and can really help benefit the Pistons in all of those categories. With Andre Drummond, they could be a good pick-and-roll team by having Drummond attack to the rim once the screen is set. However, this type of move hinges on the team’s ability to move Reggie Jackson.

Sacramento Kings

After losing DeMarcus Cousins last season, the Kings really should take advantage of this deep free agent point guard market. Even though they added De’Aaron Fox in the 2017 NBA Draft, they could take advantage of having a veteran like Holiday come in and mentor Fox.

Brooklyn Nets

There’s no question that the Brooklyn Nets have been one of the worst teams in the NBA During the last couple of seasons. Simply put, they need more firepower. Adding Holiday, after trading for D’Angelo Russell, would go a long way in rebuilding this team.

Signing Holiday won’t move the needle all that much, but his scoring is something that is badly needed on this team.
