Welcome to the very first edition of the “SCIC Link Laboratory”, here at Sir Charles in Charge.

The Link Lab will feature links to not only some great pieces/articles/videos here on the Fansided network, but also around the sports blogosphere, as well.

Let’s begin….

Ben Beeken of Dunking With Wolves evaluates the defensive play of second-year Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio, and why he may in fact be one of the most underrated guards on that side of the ball in the entire league. Check it out on Fansided.com.

With just a little under a month remaining of the 2012-13 NBA regular season, Grant Mailhes of Fansided.com takes a look at where all 30 teams rank in the latest edition of the Fansided NBA Power Rankings. SPOILER: The Miami Heat and their 27-game winning streak find themselves at #1 (clearly).

The NCAA March Madness Tournament always has a large impact on where certain players can wind up finding themselves selected in that summers NBA Draft. With the Sweet Sixteen taking place in a few days, Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report updates his 2013 NBA Mock Draft with the Round of 32 now complete. Where do college basketball studs Ben McLemore of Kansas, Otto Porter of Georgetown and Anthony Bennett of UNLV fall in this early Mock Draft?

Christian Laettner’s buzzer-beater as a member of Duke in the 1992 East Regional Final against Kentucky easily ranks as the greatest college basketball shot of all-time. Yahoo Sports and Rivals.com looks back at this memorable moment and fantastic game in a video piece that features Laettner recounting the play that defined his career.

There is nothing more frustrating than having a player on your favorite team underperforming, despite making a buttload of money in the process. Vytis Lasaitis of fellow NBA Fansided general site King James Gospel lists the 30 most overpaid players in the NBA today. This list includes Joe Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets, Amare Stoudemire of the New York Knicks and Richard Jefferson of the Golden State Warriors.

After hours and hours of changing my picks, I have finally come up with my final bracket for the 2013 NCAA March Madness tournament.

I still don’t feel comfortable.

I did my research and analyzed many expert brackets to help me in my selection process, but what I deciphered from it all is this; this year’s tournament is WIDE OPEN.

There is no proverbial favorite like there was last year, when everyone and their grandmother was riding the Kentucky Wildcats bandwagon, and rightfully so.

I played it relatively safe with my picks, going with one #1 seed (Louisville), two #2 (Ohio State and Miami)) and one #3 (Florida).

I like the Louisville Cardinals to win it all, for now anyways. They’re currently riding a ten-game winning streak, with six of those wins coming against teams in the field of 68. The Cardinals have only lost once since January 27. They have tremendous coaching in Rick Pitino, and arguably the best defensive team in the entire tournament. I’ll take my chances and hold out for the best with Louisville.

History is also on my side, as since 1985 (when the tournament expanded to 64 teams), 62% of the National Champions have been #1 seeds. 41% of the runners-up were also seeded #1.

My biggest Cinderella team comes in the form of #11 Bucknell, who I have advancing to the Sweet Sixteen. The Bison have won seven-straight and 12 of their last 13 games. I’m not completely sold on #6 Butler or #3 Marquette, who they would meet in the round of 32. Everyone loves an underdog, so if you’re looking for a bracket buster, perhaps the Bucknell Bison can be your surprise pick, as they are for me.

Other Noticeable Predictions: #1 Gonzaga losing to #4 Kansas State in Sweet Sixteen, #11 Belmont upsets #6 Arizona, #12 Ole Miss upsets #5 Wisconsin
