16. Boston Celtics: Bobby Portis, Arkansas
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge was enamored with Bobby Portis during his workout, stating, “He’s tough, very physical, and for a young kid has a great feel for the game.” The roster may already have a plethora of power forwards in the frontcourt (Sullinger, Olynyk), but Portis has enough promise to warrant consideration at 16 if he’s available.
17. Milwaukee Bucks: Trey Lyles, Kentucky
After trading Ersan Ilyasova to the Pistons, the Bucks could use a big man like Trey Lyles in their rotation. Like Ilyasova, Lyles can play either forward position, shoot jumpers and post up, however, he’ll cost a whopping $6.5 million discount.
18. Houston Rockets: Jerian Grant, Notre Dame
With Patrick Beverley already drawing interest from the Mavericks, the Rockets may have no choice but to pass on overpaying for the 26-year-old veteran. Bringing in Jerian Grant would not only ensure backcourt stability, but give the team a floor general that can potentially start if Beverley does leave.
