27. Byron Scott, Los Angeles Lakers

Byron Scott is a good coach, but the Lakers are just that much of a mess. I was hesitant to put Scott so far down on this list. I mean he did coach the Hornets to a 56-26 record in 2007-08, when he won the NBA Coach of the Year Award.

I might be biased in this pick, because I am very sympathetic towards any coach who has to attempt to mentor Kobe Bryant. Also, I admire Scott’s bold decision-making, after he talked about possibly putting Bryant at power forward this season.

So it pains me to put such a good head coach here, but between his horrible three seasons with Cleveland and the 21 wins he recorded as coach for the Lakers last year, I had no choice.
