4. Bobby Portis, Chicago Bulls
Preseason Stats: 12.5 points, 12.3 rebounds
The more that I watch Bobby Portis, the more I’m convinced that the Chicago Bulls will be able to package Taj Gibson in a trade this season in order to upgrade their small forward position. Yes, he’s looked that good thus far in preseason.
Portis is averaging 12 points and 12 rebounds – the only rookie to average a double-double – in four games this preseason for the Chicago Bulls. The best part about Portis’ production is the fact that he’s not even playing THAT many minutes thus far. He’s averaging that double-double in only 25 minutes of action per night. Heck, he’s even hitting on 43 percent of his three-point attempts. That…is impressive.
Of course, it’s only preseason.
So far, however, it looks like Portis is going to MAKE Fred Hoiberg find minutes for his rookie. With the way that he’s started his rookie season, he just has to be on the court this year.
