11. New York Knicks
The Knicks don’t project to be the dumpster fire they were last season. I don’t need statistics to support that. They’ve acquired several key rotation players in Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo and key rookies in the enigma Kristaps Porzingis and guard Jerian Grant.

With Carmelo Anthony returning from injury and head coach Derek Fisher entering his second season under the helm, the Knicks aren’t threatening to win any NBA championships, but they should at least compete for a playoff spot. Come on, they’re in the East! Still, I can only get so excited outside of Carmelo Anthony.
10. Detroit Pistons
It’s time to prove yourself, Reggie Jackson. You too, Andre Drummond. Jackson is finally the starter he believes himself to be and Greg Monroe’s departure opens the paint up for Drummond. So, the ball’s in their respective courts. Brandon Jennings returning from injury should help with the playmaking and provide outside shooting. But my favorite Piston is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Besides having possibly the coolest name in the league outside of LeBron James, he’s got a hell of a shooting stroke. I’m hoping he takes that proverbial “next step” this season.
