The Cavs Might Never Be Healthy – And We Should Come To Terms With That

This might be a bit of an overreaction, but you get the gist of it. The last time the Cleveland Cavaliers were 100 percent healthy, it was probably opening night of the 2014-15 season. Since then, LeBron James needed two weeks to get healthy last season, Kevin Love missed seven games but also spent most of last year fighting through injuries (missed the playoffs) and Kyrie Irving barely was able to play in the playoffs before ultimately exiting with a fractured knee cap.

LeBron left Miami to team up with young stars, prolonging his chance at NBA titles. And while that certainly will be the case for the next few seasons, what he didn’t account for was who he was choosing to team up with. Irving and Love have had their fair share of injury issues through their short tenures in the NBA, and that has – at least to a certain extent – limited the true potential of the Cavaliers in the last season and a half.

The Cavs, unfortunately, might not ever be 100 percent healthy this season – or beyond. We need to come to terms with that. Of course. As I’m writing this, Iman Shumpert injures his hamstring.

Nevertheless, as long as Cleveland has LeBron, they’ll still have a chance.
