New Orleans Pelicans: 5 Reasons For Their Early-Season Struggles

Anthony Davis

The second best player in the NBA, according to ESPN, hasn’t been able to pick up the slack of the Pelicans this season. Like I’ve said last season, he’s a great player, but he’s given too much credit too soon. He’s not even the best in his position. He shoots too many jump shots, and doesn’t post up enough. When he posts up, it’s 18 feet away from the basket. His free-throw percentage dropped, and he’s shooting three-pointers for some reason. I don’t know what people want him to do, but shooting 3’s shouldn’t be it. Kevin Garnett never did it, Tim Duncan never did it, so he shouldn’t do it.

What he needs to focus on is improving his free-throw percentage to the potential it could be at, posting up closer to the basket, and most importantly PASSING! He’s not a good passer. He attracts a double team, which should create easy points, but the Pelicans continue struggling to score.

He’s not a ball dominant player, which is fine, but Tyreke Evans shouldn’t be the only guy to make his teammates better. AD must learn how to pass, like KG and Duncan.
