Charlotte Hornets – WINNERS
Moves: Traded P.J. Hairston To MEM For Courtney Lee
The Charlotte Hornets nearly made the biggest splash at the NBA Trade Deadline – they were linked to Dwight Howard, but the potential deal fell through – but ultimately stood pat after they added Courtney Lee from the Memphis Grizzlies.
That move alone for the Grizzlies has been universally well received. With the news that Charlotte is going to be without Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for the rest of the season, officially, the Hornets snatched a starting shooting guard to play beside Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum.
Lee will come in, shoot the ball well and defend. He’s not a huge name, but he’ll get the job for the Hornets. And if they intend of bringing him back this summer, when he hits the free agent market, this deal will make even more sense.
If nothing else, it gives them options as Batum will also be a free agent this summer.
